Principal's Message

Dear Moffett Families

I am pleased to welcome our students and families to Moffett School for the 2019-20 school year. School will begin on Thursday, September 5th , and our planning day schedule will be observed. Class assignments will be available using the District Aeries Parent Portal system on Wednesday, September 4th after 4:00 p.m. (You must complete the data confirmation process first.) Class assignments will also be posted on the front door of the Moffett School office on Wednesday, September 4th at 5:00 p.m.

On the first day of school, parents and school staff will be available to assist your child. Kindergarten Meet and Greet will be held on Wednesday September 4th at 2:00 p.m. During Meet and Greet, parents and their kindergarten children are invited to the classrooms to meet their teachers. Our office must receive all immunizations and other necessary documents before a child can be assigned to a class. Kindergarten Meet and Greet is for enrolled kindergarten children and their parents, only. We cannot accommodate siblings at this important kindergarten activity. Please honor our policy so that your kindergarten child and all others can benefit from this opportunity.

The 2019-2020 bell schedule is also posted on our website. In order to maximize learning and teaching, bell-to-bell instruction is a priority for us, and we will limit classroom interruptions. Our office staff will not interrupt instruction to distribute forgotten items until recess. There will be a school lunch offered on the first day. The menu will include a turkey, ham and cheese croissant sandwich, carrot sticks, edamame, watermelon, juice, and milk. The cost of a student lunch is $3.00. You may pre-pay your child’s lunches online by accessing the My School Bucks program at

School enrollment continues to change as new students are added daily. Please be aware that your child’s class placement is a tentative one. There is a possibility that changes will need to be made to student placement as enrollment stabilizes after school starts in September. Please know that maintaining the integrity of the classroom learning environment is my highest priority. In the event of a change, your understanding will be most appreciated.

Please help keep our students safe by observing all traffic safety rules around Moffett School. Our Meander Street parking lot is one way. Please enter the lot from the south entrance, stay within the marked lane, and wait your turn to pick up and drop off students. Students are to exit your vehicle on the curbside, only. Our front Burlcrest Drive parking lot is intended for buses; therefore, safety when driving through our front lot needs to be a high priority for you.

This year, our School Picture Day is scheduled for Friday, September 13th. Details on ordering picture packages will be sent home with your child.

I am looking forward to a rewarding year. Ongoing communication between school and home is vital to a successful partnership. The Moffett School staff and I will communicate with you in a variety of ways including Constant Contact email messages, Blackboard Connect automated phone calls, and our Moffett School website.

You can access our website at We welcome your comments. Please call if I can assist you in any way.

Thank you for your support of Moffett Elementary,

Forest Holbrook
